What is this thing for? Is it for an option that my car doesn't have? Maybe just one of those things that mechanics plug in to? I found it underneath a piece of trim.

that is the connector for the Traction control, Perfromance and Normal Shift buttons

it would plug into a pod that is directly to the left of the shifter with the buttons

It would cost you hundreds to add traction control.

Performance and normal shift modes are only for L67'*.
