Default SSE I/P Compatability

I've decided to start thinking of ways to fix my cluster.. and the only thing wrong with it, is the compass. Now, I have not done everything possible, but I figured I would try one more idea, before I go after hacking up my Compass displays. Does anyone here that has messed with both SSE[i] clusters on 88-91, and 92-95. Do they have the same connections? Like, if I were to get a 92-95 cluster, and steal the compass display, and put it in mine, would it work?

Physically on the outside they look VERY different...... and since clusters even in years 87-91 are very picky I doubt a 92+ would work in something below a 91.

They look different? Every 92-95 I saw looks exacty the same as far as the display, but I don't know about the connections. There is like a 10 pin connector that is connected to the circuit board in the back of the cluster, and a 3pin connector that comes from the compass magnet thing in the rear deck. I guess the only thing I would need is a pic of the rear of the cluster.. if not.. guess I get to spend countless more hours sitting in my car trying to figure out which little resistor is broken .

No... the 87-91 cluster is different from the 92+ cluster.... even on the compass.
The compass on the 87-91 has 2 buttons.... the 92+ is auto calibrating.... at least my 97 is auto-cal.... dunno about lower... but I'm assuming.

My 93 has 2 buttons. I think it changed in 94. But the physical shape and wiring harnesses are totally different anyway. No chance for a swap.
