Every couple of starts, my seat belt light stays on. It is regardless of whether I have my seat belt on. ( I always wear it, but for testing purposes, I idled in the yard for a few minutes.) What would cause this random light issue? Is my seat belt light supposed to stay on when its not clipped? What should I check if there is something wrong?

There is a wire that runs to the seat for that light. Check the connections under the seat, it may just be a little loose.

What doesnt make sense is that it doesnt stay on when i dont plug it in MOST of the time.

That'* what they call an intermittent issue. Look for rubs on the wire coating..pinched wire areas..all the good fun. It'* detective time.

Update: I havent had an issue since I cleaned my heavily correded battery terminals this weekend. Both the + and - terminals were NASTY and covered in acid. Along with that light staying on, I was having trouble with starting and when it did start, 50% of the time the buzzer would stay going off. All is well now.
