No cluster lights, dimmer switch malfunction?

No cluster lights, dimmer switch malfunction?
Fuses for "interior lights" keep blowing. Headlights will come on when interior dimmer is turned from "on" to highest dim setting, even with headlight switch in full off position. Compass and the other LCD displays turn to a VERY dim when headlights/parking lights are turned on.
Really not sure how this happened or what'* causing it, but I've got someone looking at it now, and was wondering if you had any quick tips?
Right now we're pointing at a faulty headlight/interior dimmer switch.
Fast replies are appreciated, as I have to drive home and let the dogs out soon :p My HUD still works, so at least I won't get a speeding ticket :p

My first thoughts are the same as yours. BillBost37 had a meltdown of his 95 switch too. Here'* a link to his thread but the pics aren't showing up for me:

The instrument cluster WILL light up if the interior lights are on with the parking lights now... we had the headlight switch apart and checked all the contacts, but couldn't find anything more than a little discolored plastic indicating an overheat...

My pic was fuzzy of the connector cuz I was trying to get a decent close shot.: Mine overheated from a bad ground. Parking lights didn't work because also.

My overheated plastic was maybe 1/4 inch, and thankfully the connector isn't melted
Got a new switch coming in 1-3 days, since my dad likes to break things he shouldn't take apart in the first place... (Yeah, it runs in the family. I broke my trunk actuator taking it apart. Pssht, it didn't work before!)
Should I be wary about just swapping it in? If, say, the module is bad, is it going to fry this switch, too? Gut feeling tells me it'll be fine, and this'll fix the problem, but these new cars like to dangle electronic problems over my head, just out of reach.
