Default New problems arise from old (something shorting out?)

Well thanks to willwren and sonoma we got my trunk open and got one problem solved, only to have a new one come up!

Background info:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...565&highlight=

Sooooo...

I got all of my trunk lid lights and tail light bulbs replaced, except for the "third eye" up in the back glass. I can make the bulb burn in the socket until I go to put it into the lens, and then the positioning of the wires causes it to short.

I thought I would just leave the bulb out until I find the time to screw around with it as I'll probably have to pull some wire and cut it out, then splice some new wire in, etc. etc....

Right?

Wrong.

Now whenever I push the brake pedal, the lights go out on my compass, driver info center and stereo. DOH! :(

As soon as I let off the brake they come back on again.

Could the brake light short be causing this and if so why hasn't it done so before?

As a side note, I had the windows tinted last week and they removed the back dash carpeting, speaker grilles, and side trim from the back dash area. Could they have shorted something in there and I just didn't notice?

I haven't driven the car much since I got it tinted so I wouldn't have noticed.

Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated.

Take the car back to them, explain your new problem, and have them remove the rear deck and inspect for the cause of the problem.

Did that today, before I posted this, when they did the touch-up on the tint. Neither him or I could find an obvious short except the one in the brake light I mentioned earlier.

I spoke with the shop owner for awhile and came to the conclusion that I had my windows done by the Bubba Gump Tint Company.

I'm picky about who touches my car, and sometimes pickier after the first time or two.

This guy might can do tint, but I wouldn't let him change my oil.

UPDATE: Today on the way to the trans shop for a service check, the problem righted itself - sort of.

The lights stopped going out on the clock, compass, and Driver Info Cntr, but it ding ding dinged at me every time I touched the brake.

Push the brake, it says tail light out ding ding ding.

Let off the brake it says the third eye light is out ding ding ding.

During this time I couldn't set the cruise control.

On the way back from the transmission shop, it reverted to turning out the lights on the clock, etc.

Silly Bonnie.

O/T The good news is the trans checked fine and has a new filter and has been flushed. The leak it had was in the trans pan gasket. Yay! A little film in the pan, so some worn clutches they said. Well duh, it'* only got almost 300K miles on it!

From 180K miles to 280K miles as a daily pizza beater with minimal maintenance hasn't fazed this car one bit.

Whatta trooper!
