just for another bit of info...
sometimes when i drive my moms 97 ssei, when its really cold in the mornings, the cd will not play in the correct order. it will start on like track 4, then 8, then 13, no real order, but it keeps going through that order for about 5 min or until it warms up.
i have seen that problem of the display going bad in a lot of those red display radios.
