The next time you get the engine oil level low warning on the DIC would be a good time to do this check. First, like the other GH'* have already stated, check the electrical connector at the oil level sensor (front side of oil pan) secure & general condition. You can disconnect the harness while the low level condition exists. Take a multimeter set up as an ohmeter and read into the sensor across pins A & B. You should read a closed circuit with sump filled to normal level. The oil low level switch opens on a low oil level condition. If you read infinity or intermittent open with the ohmeter, then the sensor will require replacement. As a secondary check read pin A at the harness to ground (meter set to indicate dc voltage), you should see +5 vdc from the PCM with ign. on.

Low engine oil- add oil light kept coming on the dash of my 2007 Lucerne. Noticed this problem shortly after having a new battery installed. I solved this problem by removing, cleaning and reinstalling the battery terminals TIGHTLY . The problem was solved. The low oil light does not come on. Try this fix before you go changing the oil level sensor. It worked for me.

I cleaned and tightened the battery cables and it solved the problem for me on my 2007 Lucerne. Now the low oil light does not come on.
