Default Keyless Entry ?,*

I am sure I am not the first person to get a car with out the keyless fob. It is a 92 SSE, seems to have every option known to man, so do you think that I can assume it has a keyless reciever?

I called the dealership and got the part number for a fob. My question is does the FCC ID matter ?

Do I need more information or can I just buy any transmitter with the correct part #?

If I do have to get additional information off of the reciever where is it ? Can somebody tell me which transmitter I need exactly from the vin code if necessary ?

tia

Check the RPO code listing (I think it'* on the spare tire cover) for AU5. If it is not there, keyless entry was not one of the options on your car. Check the sticky at the top of this page for transmitter numbers.

Are you sure, I have AU0 but no AU5. Is keyless that rare ? It has HUD, DIC, Auto climate, every other option you could think of. Must fit into one of those option packages. Any other way to verify, dealer gave me a part # when I gave them my VIN.

I will check in my service manuals tomorrow and find out where the unit is located under the dash. You should be able to see it by just removing a kick panel i would assume.
