Whoa, it doesn't take many fractions of a G to make it happen.
As you know if you've ever held a bicycle wheel by its axle, started it spinning and tried to turn it: the spinning blower motor wants (very much) to keep going straight, but the car is turning. The forces on those old bearings are actually pretty high as a result, so it'll start squealing or slowing down. Cleaning the dirt and putting some oil in there might help it go a while longer, though.

Evrything had been working up until last night so there wasn't any chance to check it. Of course I was just on my way out when fan decided it wasn't going to run.

I wasn't going to try and do a full diagnosis at that point so I got out the hammer . Taking the advice offered here, I just tapped on the motor with the end of the rubber handle...tada...it started right away with very little persuation!

I had inquired at a jobber last week for a price, $130 CDN for the blower including the cage. Sounded a lot to me so I called GM yesterday, $58 CDN...that'* more like it!

Yes, yes......same blower assembly for all H bodies, maybe others. There are millions of them sitting on shelves waiting for homes
