Checked out the problem again today. All four doors react the same way... that is when they are opened and then closed, the lights come on and then go off right away as soon as the door is closed.

There are no aftermarket electrical parts on the car as far as I know... Stock stereo and no remote starter. The ignition cylinder seems normal.

Thanks for your help guys!

Thanks for checking...now that we have eliminated some of the obvious, we can begin to focus in on other possibilities...I'll post back when I figure out the next steps.

One other thing.... Not sure how relevent it is or not...

Once in a while when you start the car, the trunk will pop open all on its own without hitting the hatch button on the door or the remote.

Thanks

that can be as simple as a bad/stuck door button. Common

I agree that the bad/stuck door button is not uncommon, but I don't know that it is related to your other issue. It certainly shouldn't be related to your ignition, IMO. If it turns out that you do need a new door button, I have one hanging around. Just PM me.

Just out of curiousity, is your carpet wet?

I don't think the door button to pop the trunk is related, but there may be an electrical issue that connects these two problems together. I will take a look at the FSM tonight to see what to do next.

Mike...I'll try and see if I can get some diagnostics from my manual.

Bob and I were talking and looking through manuals one night..couldn't find anything on the delay issue. Everything led to either 100% good or 100% bad.

Probably Body Control Module.

Mike, just to satisfy my curiousity, did you check to see if your carpet is wet on the driver'* side?

On the trunk release button: did you check to see if it seems to be sticking? Maybe not returning completely?

Yup.....I was using the old fashioned paper version while Bill was scrolling

I really couldn't find anything that was easily identifiable for a quick fix. There must be something signaling the BCM to shut off the lights (or the BCM itself like Bil said). Do you guys know specifically how the ignition switch provides inout to the BCM to signal the shut off?
