Yes, the easiest way to think of current is like water in pipes.

Volts is the pressure and amps are the flow. Think of an electronic device as a valve, no valve, no amps (flow), open a valve (turn on your CD player), there'* flow. Basically it all depends on what accessories you're running.

Why the hell do you need to know something like this?

Get a currrent meter and wrap it around the output of the alternator. That should give you a good idea

alright thanks, I'm just trying to get specific on what type of High Ouput alt I need. at the least 135 true amps from a alternator, but I don't know if I'll go bigger in the future. But I'm basically looking at a 160 or 200 amp alt. Since I'll have other luxuries running instead of my sound system. And another reason is I just wanted to know or get a general idea.
