do the SS like i said i have em and love em
1993 SLE, we have members who have written to Sylvania and been emailed back a statement saying that due to the high performance nature of the Silver Star, life expectancy is approximately 1 year.

Each instance and case will vary from car to car and amount the lights are used. Many members with 96+ having DRL (daytime running lights) found the Silver Stars to burn our rather quickly. (A year or less).

ya BIll but everyone that has the SS in the 92-95 have had NO problems.....think about it, and go back and read some posts, from all the 92-95 owners.....no reprots of failures, only the Fogs.....now the 96-99 and the 2000+ are a different story

This is believed to be due to DRL'*. Meaning the low beams are on constantly.

The car still runs on a 12V system 96+

Currently I'm very happy with SS'* in my 97. I did disable the DRL'* before putting them in however. It doesn't seem we can merely discount the 96+ years. Being on 100% of the running time of the car increase usage and decreases lifespan in number of days.

right but remember this....when a bulb is burned at a lower intensity than its rated for it lasts much longer that it would if it was burning at full intensity, so technically the SS would last longer in the DRL than being on at full time......something to thing about

Plus the author is asking about a 94 with out the DRL'*

No the bulb doesn't last longer if it'* used as a DRL. It'* running hours may be longer, but that'* because it'* on more of the time.

If the bulbs were IDENTICAL the bulb would go our first in the DRL.
