Default Halogen 1157 Bulbs?

I was wondering if anyone has replaced their 1157 bulbs in their Bonneville with Halogen ones? If so where did you get them from and how do you like them in comparison to normal bulbs? I am looking to replace tail lamps with something brighter...

Brake lights only. Never use the hallogen bulbs for tails, they are too bright (illegal) and too hot. (melt the light housing)

I have halogen reverse lights also. On the Zilla. They slightly melted the lenses. Mine are noticably brighter when backing though.

yes i also have 50watt ones. If you dont back up for a LONG time or leave them on for long, then they will be just fine.

and with Tinted windows, its like a must

Yeah I have the reverse ones, was just checking the usability of them in the tails/etc....guess not though from what I read, and I also do kinda agree, they only improve the light slightly, I mean I did see a difference with the 50w reverse lights, but it wasn't like they advertised.
