I have the factory alarm and both key fobs. I park my car in my garage. It happened once two weeks ago, and then again 2 nights ago and just now. The alarm just goes off. I go outside and the garage door is closed. Nobody was near the car and I know for a fact that I properly closed the car doors before setting the alarm.

I'm boggled! What'* with this phenomenon?

Ok, so I'm not the only one with this problem.
My 99 SSEi has been doing this for the past week. Did it 5 times at work last week, but I attributed it to having a loose metal ring inside the vented moonroof. Then it did it the other evening while I was standing only 20 feet from it, keys (with my only fob) sitting on the table in the house.
I removed the battery, and haven't had a problem since. IIRC, the owners manual indicates that the alarm may go off if the remote FOB battery is dying. :?

This morning at 5 am, I'm awakened by my alarm going off for no reason! I disarmed it and went back to bed. I go to work, and just got a phone call from our security saying my alarm keeps going off! WTF!! I disarmed it.

What baffles me is, my keys are on my desk and I'm 100 yards from the car.

I tried synchronizing the alarm (hold both lock/unlock for 8 seconds).
Then arming.
We'll find out soon if that worked.

Should that not work, Is there any way to disarm the alarm until I'm able to try looking at the grounding connectors?

It'* covered in the owner'* manual. IIRC you just manually lock the doors & the system won't turn on.

After the first phone call from security, I went out and unlocked with key fob, opened the door, hit the lock button on the door panel and then closed it. 30 minutes later, I get phone call # 2. I go outside, unlock with key fob, reviewed owner'* manual, then tried synchronizing.
An hour later, haven't had a phone call yet.

What could it be? :?

NOT the lock button. Lock the door MANUALLY.

Hitting the button serves the same purpose as the remote fob does.

MANUALLY lock the door with the sliding lever, not the lock button.

Ooooohhhh...duh. I swear my blonde shows when I'm frazzled.

My SSE just did this two weeks ago. Turned out to be a shorting door switch pin. Changed it and all is good. It was just going off for no reason after I hit the door locks and closed the door.
Not sure if yours has them as my 96 does not but you get the point. Something is shorting or you have a bad ground or connector.
