Default Coil firing problem

Hi, mark here. For some reason the coil on the bottom of pack will not fire. Changed plate under coils but no help. Could it be the brain nex't to the air box?
If I try a brain off of a 99 SE will that cause a problem. Mine is a 97 SSE

Please test your coils per that article and report the numbers back here. We're trying to determine if it might be an ICM problem as well. I assume the other four cylinders are firing, and the car will start but idles poorly?

And the two not firing (inspect the plugs) are both from a common coil?

If you don't have a multimeter you can switch the coil with another & see if the problem also moves. The spark plug wires have to stay in the original positions.

Hey guys, no meter. I've moved coils all up & down pack. Bought new coil but still same problem. Sometimes a weak spark or no spark at all. Car runs but weak and fuel econ bsd.

As Will said - check the two spark plugs for that coil.

We need to SEE the front three plugs at the very least. If you can't post pics, click the PM link under my post and I'll give you my email, then host the pics for you. We really need to SEE the plugs, especially those associated with the coil in questoion comparied to a 'good coil' plug.

We can READ the plugs and tell what your problem may be.

Hang in there, Mark, and don't get frustrated. If you take it step by step with us, we'll get it for far less than it would cost at a shop. We take pride in that. Just a few checks to home in on the problem.
