Default cigarette lighter causes static

first off, Hi to all. long time reader, first time poster, anyways. I have a 2003 sle and everytime i use the cigarette lighter to charge my cell phone the radio goes completely to static and you have to turn it down or off. Is there something i can do to fix this?

Have you tried a different charger, or using the back lighter opening?

Yea my cars do that too. Whenever I try to do that in my car it messes up the radio reception. Nothing to do except deal with it I guess.

yeah, i tried that but it did the same thing

not what i was looking for, you would think that there would be something i could do for this. oh well i guess...

My guess is that the charger uses some electronic switching to lower the voltage to charge things, and that is producing some radio frequency interference. It would take some testing to see if it is radiated, or fed back through the power lead. Without knowing your skills, I don't know how far you may want to dig into things.
