Let'* all just sit here and wait for a reply. Much better than filling this up with conjecture at this point.

Hey guys sorry it took so long. It is the lamp monitor. I think I discovered that the lights that are on the trunk are not turning on when I brake.

The lights on the trunk aren't supposed to turn on when braking.

Only the outer tails and the hi-mount 3rd brake light. Are all three coming on? If they are, remove the bulbs and clean the base of the bulb and the socket. Then reinstall the bulbs with a little dielectric grease.

If necessary replace the bulbs, as WillWren says..clean the sockets well. If the issue persists, look for any rubbed wiring in the trunk area.

And, make sure you're using the proper bulb. I learned this the hard way with a 92 SSEi I used to own. The previous owner had the incorrect bulb in the brake/tail assembly. It lit up fine and worked when braking. However, it triggered the warning on the DIC. Installed the correct bulb, issue resolved.

Bulb numbers are in tech info.

That same thing happened to me with my 3rd brake light. Came on, worked great, but triggered the lamp monitor. Wrong part number.
