In Illinois the front signals can only be white or amber; rear signals can only be amber or red.

I doubt they're going to make a U-turn and come after you for them, but it does give them an excuse to stop you and see what other naughty business you're up to.
I agree. Why give them a reason...

I use standard amber. Looks good with my silverstars and cyber white fogs. The law says amber, use amber guys.

I got pulled over once for not having a front license plate visible. It _was_ sort of visible, up on the dash, because the front brackets were broken, but the cop flat-out said he was checking up on us (three of us), and since we weren't doing anything else wrong (hey, it was only 9:00 p.m. ) he let us go, but he said he _could_ have ticketed us for the plate, so I should get it fixed. Besides, the amber bulb is all but invisible when it'* not on anyway.
