Im thinking about hooking my fathers truck up with some foglights. For power I want to just tap into one of the battery'* posts, but how do I do this? If someone could show me or tell me what exactly type of parts I need to safely hook it up, that would be great. He currently has no fog lights on there now.

Well, you'd have to run a wire from the positive terminal, to a switch, to the fogs, to a ground (like the frame). You could just attach a wire under the post clamp.

Like wrap the wire around the post clamp allready there, then screw it back on? It wouldnt drain the battery or mess up with the electrical system at all?

It shouldn't. I don't think the fogs will drain that much for the alternator to not keep up, or even overwork it. And the switch will control the amount of time they're on.

Anyone have a contrary view? State it...I dare ya....

Don't really need to wrap the wire. If you just hold it against the post, then clamp the positive clamp over it and tighten, should be plenty good. Or if you have the screw on type, like in our Bonnies, then wrap it around the thread, or like I did, solder the end of the wire to an eye.

I would personally put a relay inline, to make the truck be on for the lights to be on.

Yes, and yes. Another alternative for power is to tap into a power block in the fusebox, if you're not comfortable handling battery cables directly. Many fuseboxes have empty slots with straight 12v power ready to go. Just crimp or solder a connector onto your power wire, and plug it in!

It should be a simple installation as far as wiring, once you find a place in the firewall to feed it through. Any aftermarket fog lights you buy should have a basic wiring diagram as well. Good luck!
