Another crank, no start problem
My car stalled at an intersection, then when I went to restart it, it cranked without firing. I got it to a shop where they scanned the codes and came up with a crank sensor failure. Replaced that, car still won't start. Their next idea was the passkey. A solenoid in the ignition cylinder blew and won't read my key. Thats what they told me anyway. From what I understand, when I had my remote start put in, the VATS is disabled. Correct?
Okay, so now their saying that maybe the BCM is to blame. From reading other posts, the BCM control body functions, such as door locks, windows and such.
The fuel pump and sender are a few months old. All coils are new and the ICM was replaced. It just cranks with no fire. The only code that came up was the crank sensor being bad. Evidently, that wasn't the issue, or the whole issue.
Any ideas?

Who'* "they"??
You have no BCM. You also have no solenoid in the ignition tumbler. VATS should be disabled whenever a remote start system is put in...otherwise it would never start VATS has nothing to do with your problems as it would not cause a stallout. ICM maybe. What about the cam or crank sensors? Can you pull any codes from the computer?

sorry for the delayed response....
the only code pulled now is the passkey issue that apprently all 92'* have. the mechanic said that the chip on the key is not reading something in the ignition cylinder and that is causing the injectors to not get fuel. the is zero pressure at the injectors. i talked to him today in fact. i might try and get a junk yard ICM. could the PCM be an issue?
oh - bill, i've never had any wire rubbing issues in the past. i've heard of one the back wires rubbing the O2 wire.

obviously, i dont get online much these days. my stalling issue has finally been diagnosed by... lets see....this is the third mechanic. this guy is telling me that the aftermarket remote start/alarm was installed incorrectly. it is interfering with the factory alarm and causing the car to have fuel issues. i have to talk to him face to face...i was in atlantic city when he called. it does kinda make sense, since the remote starter has never worked right. the few times i tried to use it this past year, the car would start with the remote, stall, re-start, and stall...until i finally shut it off with the remote.
my car is running now. i am afraid to drive it anywhere far though, because it has done this so many times now where it will run great and one day out of the blue leave me in the middle of an intersection. i wonder if they disconnect the remote starter, the problem will go away.
does this make sense? or am i being misled by another mechanic who is simply guessing.
