After 24,000 miles on my driver information center (DIC) was not working. The LCD lighting was OK but the trip reset button did not function. The panel (and board) was replaced and it appeared to work fine. After 27,000 miles the instrument panel provided quite a light show. All instrument panel lights were blinking and the odometer LCD panel went dark. I was told that the cluster panel failed. The cluster panel is being replaced. Is it possible that when the DIC panel was replaced that the cable was not properly sealed in the cluster box? I beleive that determination of the root cause of the problem is important to eliminate any future problems.
Any ideas?

Terry, I'm betting it'* the other way around. I think the root cause of your 'light show' actually caused the DIC to fail FIRST, and the main failure only showed it'* true colors later.
Doesn't sound like a common problem amongst the latest generation, so you're probably good to go now.
