When the engine won't start, check to see if you are getting spark on all cylinders. If you are, check fuel pressure.

Sounds like a crank shaft position sensor, not a camshaft position sensor.

So when I try to start the car, you could see that the engine is trying to crank - the belts are moving & it is trying to turn over. I'm assuming to check spark I need to pull out a spark plug?

Also, does it make sense that a bad crankshaft sensor would make the relays go clicking away like that?

Thanks!

An engine needs three things to run ... spark, fuel and air. I am taking you back to the basic tests of trying to determine if you have spark and fuel. You can check for spark by (one at a time) removing each plug wire from the coil pack, and while cranking the engine hold the loose end close to the terminal on the coil pack. Close, but not touching, and make sure you hold the wire using something insulated. If, while cranking the engine, you see spark jumping from the coil pack to the plug wire, replace the plug wire and repeat for the other five. If you confirm spark on all 6 cylinders, go to your nearest parts store and rent a fuel pressure tester ( they charge a deposit that will be returned when you bring it back) and use it to check fuel pressure. Let us know what the readings are.

I appreciate your reply. I am concerned about barking up the wrong tree here. I seem to be having a large amount of electrical related issues and checking spark and fuel might only tell me that these are also not working right due to electrical issues. Are there no other diagnostics before I start going after spark and fuel pressure?
