Default 1993 Bonneville SSE Stock CD Player Problems????

When I put a cd in it says error and spits it back out. I figured it needs to be cleaned because it'* so old but it wont even read the clean disc. Has anybody else had problems with their player and fixed it? I was thinking about ripping it out and taking it apart and cleaning the inside. I just want music now, later on I'm going to get a new cd player to replace the stock but it will be awhile. Also has anybody ever had problems with their volume button sticking?

I'm going on a trip this week to check out how Bonne is on the highway. The radio is annoying plus I can't get the voulume to work. I wish it had a tape deck in it now.

You got the opposite problem I do, my CD player won't play a CD except for when the moon is right, wind is in a certain directions, and the stars are in a certain alignment.....And it don't matter whether it plays the CD or not, it still won't eject it. Any thoughts on that?

The CD player that I exchanged works great. I just like the look of the stock CD player in the dash.

well for some people they perfer the stock look of the Pontiac radio, and they do not want to build a system. Others on the other hand like all the extra features that aftermarket decks provide. one drawback, there are only select few that make their headunits with a red back light............unless you make your headunit red like me

Yea I understand the red background. The higher model alpine'* have an option where you can change the color of your deck and it does have red.
