See that is funny my voltmeter in the car only shows 13.7 all the time but at the Alt. it shows 14.4 and i have a 140 AMP AC delco

Will did u actually test the voltage coming off of the Alt and not trust the gague???

My gauge reads dead on. Reads the alt output when the car is running, but currently reading dead on what my voltmeter reads from the battery. (this is an aftermarket voltmeter obviously, as I have a boost gauge in place of the OEM voltmeter). My DP 160 alternators both read 14.2 during the day before their respective failures. Drops to 13.8 if I have lights, Climate Control, and stereo on.

100% warranty replacement being shipped as we speak. Good thing, too, as my NEW autozone 105amp spare charges 13v at idle during the day, and less than 12 with the headlights.

now you know how I feel ;)

Nearly All reman units (this one is a reman) only fix what was wrong. 99% of the remanufactured alternators only fix the failed part, where it's bearings, brushes, regulator, etc. Only top level ones are done new thru and thru.

I'm in the same boat as damemorder, never had an issue with one yet, 120,000 miles will roll tonight, and my output is great for a stocker with the drain it sees. I only worry about it when the stereo is cranked, the HVAC is on full speed, lights are on (especially those Hella's). The High speed fan switch sucks a big amount at first too.

FYI, these alternators we get from DP are NEW AC Delco alts off the shelf, then modified for higher output and improved life.

(PS im in Canada if that makes a difference)

What kind of power you pushing? Good rule of thumb 1,000 watts = 1 Farad of capacitance.
