As far as I know, I'm the only one with problems so far with these units. I've spoken directly with the manufacturer in the recent past, and will do so again tomorrow. It's encouraging to know that both of my failures were different. Totally different failures. No trend. Still a PITA.

My crappy 105 spare will be going back on in the morning when my boss brings it in to work. In the meantime, the battery is charging, and will be enough to get me to work and back tomorrow.

Will - I am wondering if the 160 A and 200 A DP alternators are rated to the same standards as the OEM units.
My original 125 A alt has more than enough for me with absolutely no problems since new.
Maybe your new 160 A unit is really the equivalent of a less than the OEM 105 A unit and the 200 A unit may be a little better than 125. :?

That sucks mine has failed a few times too my dad can do a swap on those so easily now heh he bought the parts to change mine to a higher amp one but this one has been going on strong for probaby 2 years now very odd how things work out like that....

Haven't lost one yet ;)

(now mine are going to go like clockwork every week 'cause I said that....)

Sounds like voltage reg. failure on this one. Sorry to hear of your woes with these alternators. Just a suggestion, have some one else install the new alt in your car. Don't touch it.

Just don't ask Will how to remove the serpentine belt when it does happen!

BTW, what's that hissing sound I hear coming from your tires? :)

Paul, I have a good (new) 105 amp spare, and it can't keep up. It produces much lower voltages acroos the board. It's going back on this morning, and I'll confirm it. My stock 125 amp alternator never produced over 13.6-13.8, and my 105 spare only produced 13.6 MAX (my car has the heated ws, so it came with a 125 stock, where most 92-99's came with a 105).

See that is funny my voltmeter in the car only shows 13.7 all the time and i have a 140 AMP AC delco

Will did u actually test the voltage coming off of the Alt and not trust the gague???
