That'* more than twice what I paid for 2 cans of brake cleaner and a can of paint for mine.

The stuff Autozone has on the shelf. Works great, lasts long time.

Being an RG I already know the answer...but I'll ask for the sake of ...uh others

You removed the calipers from the hoses, cleaned and painted each time or you taped them off after cleaning and painted while attached to the brake hoses?

I just got done using the G2 Caliper Paint system onmy GTP. I did silver for the caliper brackets and white for the calipers. (Need to take some pics...I know...sorry :( )

Anyway, with my old calipers I did the Duli-color engine paint method. It holds up for about a year or so and then I noticed it started to crack and bubble. It'* held up though to brake cleaner once it'* cured.

I highly recommend the G2 product...it requires only 2-3 thin coats...it self-levels and dries with an awesome gloss. You have to resist the urge to back-brush once you go over a section. It will level out...trust me. THe other thing is that it'* warrantied for the life of the car.

This is about the right price for the kit (the white one is 6 items down.)

Good luck.

Do not confuse Engine paint with Brake paint. Engine Paint cannot handle the high temperature of a braking system. (Which is why I suspect your paint cracked.

I, like Willren, have used the Caliper paint from Autozone. It'* holding up great on the bonne, and still looks good on my Dads truck (3.5 years later)

2 Cans paint, plus one can brake cleaner = $17.

Check out my Sticky at the top of Detailing and Appearance for my take on painting calipers.

Good luck!

I have had less then perfect results with my duplicolor rattlepaint from the store. I did clean mine well before i painted, the calipers are just have too much corrosion in them for this style of paint.

The G2 system is supposedly one of the top ones out there, and everytime i hear about it, it'* good news. The best one (in my opinion) is Folia Tec, but it'* damn near impossible to find.

i used 1000* rattle can engine paint and have had no problems on my calipers, or drums. they have been cleaned with Brake cleaner more than a few times now too.

and i dont see why the 1000* engine paint cant stand up to the heat??? I dont think that the brakes get that hot :?
