Default Wheels 5X115 and 5X114.3

I know the issue with putting a 5X114.3 on our hubs. It works for some folks just fine. To me, it'* just if you DO warp the wheel or snap the studs, you are in some deep doo-doo, or a ditch on the side of the road.

Radomir'* Bullitts look sick, and I'm trying to figure out a way to put some on my '98 SSEi with a better margin of safety.

The difference is 27/1000s of an inch. I'm not sure if the 114/115' measurement is located from the axle or from lug to lug..

And I'm not an engineer, but I did work a few years as a machinist....

Couldn't you mill or drill with a slightly larger bit (than the current holes in the wheel) to move the centerline of the hole to 115mm? It might take a slightly wider lug nut to hold it true.

Has anybody tried anything like this?

At the very least I would make sure that the hub bores on the new wheels either match 70.3mm or you get hubcentric rings (ebay) that make up the difference. I think that the people who have problems have a very miss-matched hub bore. IIRC the mustang bore is very close and most of the guys running mustang wheels never have any problems.

Redrilling wheels is somewhat common and I've had it done from 114.3 to 115 to two sets of wheels I've bought from an importer on the west coast. This in addition to boring them out to 70.3mm.
