How did you use a lathe to sand them, I can't picture how that would work. The only lathe I know of is used to machine material off of cylinder shaped objects. Am I thinking of the right machinery, or are you talking about something completely different??

you can bolt the wheel to the lathe, which is just an axis the spins (in really basic terms) then just hand sand it.

Exactly.... The rims turns just like on the car, and you hold the abrasive stationary. Similar to a tire balencing machine. Sure beats having to use elbow grease!

yeah it does...I love working on lathes...especially wood lathes.

I guess that would speed up the process, and make it a helluva lot easier
