If I had the ambition, talent, and patience, The Missus actually had a good idea for tail lights (should mine ever delam). Honeycomb them like a Trans Am. Still Pontiac, so not overly "ricey", but much much coller than just stripes.

you gotsomething going with this idea....one could even do a Pontiac Logo or the word or what not, definatly a neat project

i thought about doing mine, cuz i don wana spend the money on new ones

back when i had my 90 SSE, i took 1/8 inch masking tape and taped off every single line. and used black semi-gloss paint, and then removed the tape and did 2 coats of clearcoat over the whole lamp. looked GREAT.

Oh man..

I was reading to the end to ask.. doesn't anyone remember...someone did this and it came out great!

Search for the painting tail lights thread... they looked fantastic.

I didn't find the early tails with painted stripes, but here'* SOCLEANONE'* pinstripe look on his '98 SLE, self painted.

i do remeber that post i dont think it was called painted or paiting tails...

I think it was something else and it had the tails in it... :?

The original lense was smoked plastic if memory serves me correct. They still transmitted light but were not reflective.
IMO your putting yourself at risk by painting them.

I've been wanting to do the same thing for months but I dont have the patience. I am really stumped on what to do since I dont want to tint them black (rear ending fault) and there are no good ssei tails out there, and if there is, they would probaly begin to delam once I got them. I think I may paint the amber red like Willren did on one of his cars, but I'm not sure yet.
