Default NuPolish scratched my car!

I don't yet have pictures, but I bought NuPolish Scratch Doctor & Car Polish. I used them as directed with terry towels, and though the paint was shiny, I found scratches in the places I had spread it that weren't there before. Even Scratch Doctor didn't do anything, and my front bumper looks worse than before. What do you think happened?

Are you sure they weren't there before? I know when I've waxed in the past, it sometimes can make scratches more apparent if it doesn't have fillers. I can see the Scratch Doctor leaving scratches if it isn't worked long enough, but the other stuff shouldn't.

Maybe the towel had some dirt or grit on it and scratched the paint as you were wiping.

Brand new towels.

I had a perfectly good car body with a new hood from the previous owner killing a deer. The hood actually got unnatural scratches, and so did the trunk. The trunk'* scratches are exactly like the hood'*, but it'* the trunk with 290K miles on it. The scratches are at the front-right and the rear-left. It doesn't seem natural that that'* where the scratches would be if I waxed the entire hood & trunk. I remember scrubbing more in those places with the Car Polish product, but the scratch doctor couldn't take out those scratches.
