Default I'm an idiot

So I left my passenger window down yesterday. I rarely open it, and pulling into the driveway I totally forgot to close it.

And it stormed last night.

This morning, I go out to the car and the passenger seat is soaked, the inside of the door is wet as is the floor panel. Also about 1/2" of water pooled up in the side pocket on the door.

So I sopped all the water up, but the seat is still damp and the car smells like a foot. Can't exactly leave the windows down either because it'* supposed to rain on and off all week and I don't work near a window (so I have no clue if I need to run out and put the windows up).

Any tips on removing the stink? And, any other problems that could surface? So far the window motor seems to work as does the speaker in that door.. Any advice welcome

... except for "put the windows up next time".. I already covered that one with myself.

Thanks

Nothing you can do now about the wetness except maybe a steam cleaner. If you can do that.. the soap will give you a better smell.

I'm surprised that your year is already smelling like a foot wtih one wetting. Maybe try some Fabreeze.

You can try and locate an ozone machine. I've heard they give decent results getting rid of odors like smoke.

Might try the old fridge trick, couple of open boxes of baking soda while the car is parked. Secure em before driving though (ask me how I know )

thanks guys.. i spot cleaned the carpet where it got wet and febrezed the seats. not sure where to find an ozone machine, but if it persists i might look harder.

my real worry was frying the window motor and any other electronics that might be in the passenger door. so far it'* all working, any chance i might get a surprise down the road as a result?

the stuff works wonders for oders.

The ozone machines are designed for bathrooms
with a sented spray can that is on a battery run timer where you can set it for like every 7 15 or 30 minutes apart spray. You dont want that.

You can throw some char-coal in there also, that will help absorb bad odors.

Your motors/electronics inside the door should be fine. I sincerely doubt any more water got in there than would have if the window were closed.

But, there is stuff under the seat, usually, that you may want to double check.
