Hood scoops
I really don't think they look bad. Yes they are noticeable, but every stick on scoop Ive seen is the same way. I wouldn't bother trying to find another set of stick on scoops. just my opinion. But I understand where you are coming from.
Getting a scoop molded to your factory hood is expensive as mentioned, but you can't beat the look.
Since you are considering removal, have you considered something less noticeable like vents/ louvers instead of scoops?
There are plenty of stick on styles out there, of course I would stay away from the chrome ones, I've been searching google for a while but chrome crashed on me and I lost those sites, sorry I will try again in the morning.
Heres some installs of pre 97 gtp hood vents, not exactly as easy what you may be looking for but they can be made to be functional to vent warm air and are from another pontiac....I will try to find those sites again for stick ons that are relatively subtle.

If the body shop didn't use 3m double sided tape what did they use?

Because no one makes a hood for the Bonneville, there are very few options. Lund stick ons, or you learn how to do a real set yourself, or dish out big bucks. The best price I can give on a hood is about $750 unpainted plus shipping.
