Cylinder heads will be the same color. These will be very much easier to keep clean.

If you were going to engrave the valve covers would it make more sense to fill in the lines and have a flush surface to work with?

Or is there enough material to machine them smooth?.

IF I engrave anything on them, it will be along the bottom edge in one of the three areas below the bottom line, and inbetween the VC bolt cutouts.
