Cutting out and meshing your engine cover is the #1 thing you can do to highlight yours. I got the idea for mine above from a S2 cover I saw 4 years ago.

From there, pick a color. But I suggest making sure you can get wire loom and spark plug wires in that color, or plan on looming your wires.

Moving to detailing and appearance.

I prefer no engine cover. Mine was busted when I bought it anyway

I painted everything from the waterpump to alternator, pulleys, AC compressor, LIM, EGR, EMs, transmission, TB...etc. etc. without taking anything off the engine. I'm still not done yet

I was going for the clean stock look this time. If that'* the route anyone wants to go, a very thorough cleaning and some engine paint will make it look clean and 'new.'

I went with aluminum and semi gloss black paint for the engine parts, and satin black thermal coating for the EMs. I also replaced a lot of the black wire loom. I was going to do the red loom again, but I decided on black to keep the stock look. The only thing not stock looking on the engine is the intake.

I was all for the clean stock look too. I like cover-less (although the meshed ones are not bad either), with some of the wire loom replaced (I went with red) and maybe plug wires. Oh and the strut bar too. Anyways, thats about all I would ever do, I personally find both Bill'* and Andrew'* to be a bit much, in that I wouldn't put red on everything.
