Clearing Headlights in 05 GXP
The GXP headlamp assemblies are not the same. The GXP uses an HIR-1 high beam bulb which is keyed differently than the 9005. They are otherwise very similar, but I do believe they are slightly smoked. This is similar to the tail lights in that they are darker lenses as well. This also applies to the 2005 SLE.

yeah the 2005 GXP dont use 9005 for highbeams.,.. yet when i was installing my HIDs i had a set of 9005 which did fit in after some playing around with it.. no pushing, force, or cutting.. its just fit inside no hassel... also for the fogs i thought it was H11 as per sylvania but when i took it all apart it was H3 instead
The problem with putting 9005'* into the GXP is going to be a serious lack out light output. In any Bonneville that doesn't use the HIR-1, when the high beams are on, so are the low beams. The GXP turns off the low beam bulbs when the highs are on. The 9005 just doesn't produce adequate light by itself to be a good option in this application.
Personally, I like the look of cleared headlights but if you remove those the car will no longer meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Although not common, you can be ticketed for that and your car is less visible at night from the side.
Similarly, I personally feel that disabling DRL'* is foolish, a bad idea and in poor judgement. Stats have shown they reduce collisions and improve safety.

Have you ever noticed all the lights and reflective striping on emergency vehicles? There'* a reason for this and even with all of these people still drive into these vehicles. A dimly lit marker light just doesn't cut it. The requirement is there for a reason.

yeah that is true.. the reflectors are there for a reason.. bur i really love the clear look on it and im not planning to drive out of the province.. i usually fly back and forth..
and for the colour... ill be using switch back LEDs.. which would give it that nice clean white look when driving and then orange when you turn the signal on..

Don't get me wrong. I really like the look of cleared headlights and I'd do it if it just wasn't a bad idea. This is particularly true if you're driving in poorly lit areas or places there is a lot of traffic. I guess I've just picked up too many people that "... didn't see the other car", even with the benefit of proper lighting and reflective devices.
