Arm rest lid
Not exactly certain what the particular nomenclature used for it may be, so I shall henceforth refer to it as, "The Arm Rest!"
Problem being that the lid just won't stay closed. It would appear that the "tooth" coming down from the lid itself, has been worn over the years, and there isn't much of a lip for the latch to, well, latch on to.
I wouldn't expect that I'm the only one who has had this happen to them - so my question: would you think it enough to just file a more pronounced profile into the "tooth," or will the lid/arm rest require replacement?
Cheers.

Yes this issue is very common. Filing more off of the "latch" may work, but it may make it worse as you'd be removing more material.
You could probably add some material on the end with some careful use of some jb weld and some spare plastic perhaps? IIRC my dad did something of the sort to fix mine years ago. You could also use velcro to hold it shut.
Or you can ask BillBoost37 for one as he has many spare parts. These are very easy to come by in a junkyard or probably on ebay.

One of the search gurus can probably find the part number for the "console lid/latch assembly"
