88 SSE wheels on a 95 ??
I've got a 95 SSE, and I tried to put my stock 88 SSE rims on it, but they don't clear the calipers.
Looks like a very small clearance issue, maybe 3/16" at each of 5 cutouts, but who could clear the wheels for me, It'* not any structural material but needs to be done uniformly as to keep the balancing right... Maybe a wheel spacer would work, but the studs look a little short for that.. Any ideas :?: I think the older rims would look really good on the newer body style...
Thanks,

First off, these are the solid white 16" alloy wheels with 5 small slots around the outside. Each cutout has about a 1/4" thick wall ( on the reverse ) it'* the innermost portion of each cutout that interferes. I do have some 1989 SE aluminum wheels ( 16" also) and they fit fine. Could they be aftermarket calipers ? Are the offsets the same ? I could clear it pretty quickly with a grinder, but that may not be the right way to go. Not like it will ever show though...

hmmmm, honestly, if they don't fit, grinding the rim wouldn't really be the safe way of making them fit.
I would try some wheel spacers, but if, like you said, the studs are too short, that might not work either.

you need not to grind or mod anything...
i own a 88 sse ( white ) and a 95 se also white and one day i got curious and switched the wheels.. the silver lace rims looked sweet on the 88 sse but i did not like the look of the 88 sse full face rim on the 95 se at all. ( and it was a perfect fit ) no rubbing anywhere..
maybe something in your wheel well is bent a lil..

its true. when Randy swapped the front end of the 97 to his 90 his white 90 rims rubbed.
so he ground down the calipers a tad.
That sounds the easiest...
But I worry down the road, I replace the calipers and memory lapses a bit,
and whamo... I may space them out a 1/4" and see how I like them, before I grind anything... Thanks for the input everyone !!
