Default 2005 GXP gauge cluster in a 2000 SE?

does anyone know if i can put a 2005 GXP gauge cluster in my 2000 SE? i've read about switching the small board with that stores the milage

i will also get the new DIC buttons, does the just hook right in to my connector for the buttons there already? right now it is just the E/M, Trip Reset, and Tire Pressure Reset

thanks

It has been done, but there were glitches including constant low coolant light, and readings on other gauges off. (Software problem)

you could just switch the face of the cluster if you really wanted the white faces

Heres an update: I picked up an SSEi cluster from Morad with the DIC buttons too

it has a few burned out lights which i plan to really look into soon, but when i switched the milage chip the DIC didn't come on anymore, just blank screens, so i had to keep the original chip in

the top screen works correctly except for that the compass doesn't work, it goes through the directions as startup but then says compass with no direction

the bottom screen works correctly except that the select and reset buttons don't work, then i compared the switches, the original has 5 pins, the SSEi one has 7 pins, and my wiring connector has 5 wires, does this connect anywhere where i can add 2 more wires?

and anyone have a Tech 2 that i could borrow? i'll pay you to use it

another update here: i've been looking through my FSM and found i need to add 2 wires from the DIC switch to the cluster, what is the best way to do this? ripping into the ribbon seems impossible, any other ideas?

you could add the wires extermally from the ribbon. just get the pins and then insert them into the cavitys on the connector

ok i have to look at that again when i take the cluster out, any idea why the compass would not show a direction at all? are the subs in the trunk throwing it off?
