he'* looking for a pontiac block ID. The site you listed just has Chevy block IDs.

Either way, i did a quick search for his casting number on there and did not turn anything up.

I am wondering if maybe the block was re-tagged. Most of the ones I have seen hafe had the YF code under the casting number, and not over it.

It could also be a casting code specific to the Limo'* since they were produced in so few numbers, maybe the code is not widely known.

Maybe you can see about getting the PHS documentation for the car if available and see.

There are also other places to identify what motor it is, but some require you to get to the short block.

Check here for that information:

Also hit next at the bottom as the 2nd page has more info.

I found this post on another site:

If the other engine is a 67, it wouldn't be a 389, 67 was the year that Pontiac stepped up to the 400. If that engine is a 67 400, the casting # I have is 9786133 and will be in the same place as the 428 #*. Sorry, but I don't have any info on 389 #*. Sorry, but my info doesn't show either XJ or YD letter codes, but my book only shows those codes for Firebird engines. Hope this helps a bit.
Also, mention of this site was in the same thread:
http://www.spottsperformance.com/engineid.htm

That might help you out a bit. Looks to me like you have found the serial number and not the casting code for the motor.[/quote]
