I have a question for you guys, My fuel guage isnt working My car has 245,000 Km'* on it I know its the sending unit but would I be better to replace the whole pump with that many Km'* or should I just have the sending unit replaced. Im out of work and really tight for money and I would have too get someone to do it for me as Im not comfortable doing it.

Fuel pump is 13 years old. Replace the entire assembly. You don't need to be stuck on the side of the road when its -20 out and your pump goes out. Either way the labor to replace either one is identical. So you might as well do it.

Ya thanks Mike thats kinda what I figured but Pump Modules are so pricey here in canada, Im out of work so moneys really tight. What brands do you recomend that are a little cheaper perhaps then Delphi or AC Delco. Bosch ok??

I guess Delphi and AC Delco are the ones to stay with. STAY AWAY from Airtex. I had a brand new one fail after 16 months.

Will look into this at rock auto but customs etc is killer to Canada.

I also suggest AC Delco, or Denso, you may pay a little more for them, but I am sure you do not want to pay to have the tank dropped again if the replacement pump fails prematurely.
That is assuming you do not have a fuel pump access in the trunk like some do, I am not too familiar with Monte Carlo'*..
I have not heard any good, or bad, about the Bosch fuel pumps, the only thing I know is that the Bosch 67390 pump would be around 70.00 cheaper than the AC Delco.

You may want to consider replacing the fuel filter as well, if it has not been replaced too recently.

If you are out of work and tight for money, use the trip odometer to keep track of miles between fill ups and leave the level sensor alone. Multiply your average fuel mileage by the number of gallons your tank holds, subtract 50, and use that for how many miles you can travel before you re-fuel. On my car it'* around 300 miles.

If money is not a concern, based on the mileage you definitely want to replace the pump when you replace the level sensor.

When stuff is sent from the states I have too pay customs and brokerage fees so not sure its worth it ordering from the states But I would like too change the whole thing for sure.
