Default Question on 1995 Monte Carlo Z34

Hi all!
A good friend of mine is selling me his 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 with 140k for $300. In my opinion that is a great deal. It runs great and drives great, but the only thing that has me concerned is the tranny fluid. The fluid is dark, but not burnt. I was curious as to what opinions anybody had on if I should change it, or just leave it be. And when I mean change I dont mean flush, just a simple drop the pan, change the filter and gasket and replace whatever amount of fluid came out. I had an 94 Oldsmobile 98 with the same tranny that had dark fluid and I just did a simple pan drop and change and here we are now a year later and the car still shifts like a dream. Just curious as to what you guys thought I should do about it, leave it be or change it.
Thanks so much!

I never hurts to change the transmission fluid, particularly when you don't know when it was changed last. You are correct in doing a pan drop and filter change, and not a flush. A flush could disturb things that are best left undisturbed.
