Here is my question I have a 1995 Monte carlo that runs as though it has a misfire. When I start it there is what seems like valve train noise. In order to keep it running you have to give it more gas the exhaust smells like its running rich all the spark plugs tell me the same thing.I tested the coils the module the egr what gives? What should I do next?

If your smelling gas, it sounds like your running rich. Check the O2 sensor. Try cleaning the MAF, be careful doing that. Are all the plugs a nice light gray/white color?

no kinda of suty black plugs. It runs like more than one cyl. is down. Oil smells like gas. I dont know weather 2 look at head gasket (but no burent coolent smell and no oil in water) or mabe valve. Checked coil paks and ign. mod they are ok so i think i can rule out spark but looking at the plugs i don't know. My dad thinks it has a dubbel fire but i have only herd of that in a cracked cap not in a solid state ign. so idk

These engines have a waste spark, they fire each time the piston comes up. If they are black then your running rich. Spark is not the problem. Several sensors control the AFR, engine coolant temp, MAF, and O2. Unplug the MAF and see what happens. The engine will stumble but should smooth out. You can drive without the MAF plugged in, just drive easy. If the engine runs better, replace the MAF. If no change, pull the O2 sensor and replace.

Could also be a bad FPR. Easy enough to check.
