Default PCM Relearn - Tranny Related

Figured I'll post here instead of the Impala forums just because you guys know a lot more about this stuff

Yesterday when I was at Pinky'*, we removed my PCM to look at the airbox, and right after we plugged it in, I did a big no-no and did a WOT run... yeah... Now my tranny is shifting like ****... it'* the weirdest thing, when you start it up and drive, it takes a LOOOOOOOOOONG time to shift, like 2 or 3 seconds, then after about 5 minutes, it shifts relatively normal, then 5-10 minutes after it BANGS! into gear. Then when I shut it off and start it back up, it restarts the process. I know that this is a PCM issue, so I don't know whether to keep driving like this (I REALLY don't want to do that to my tranny), or to unplug the PCM again and let it relearn. Thoughts?

I'd go with a relearn.

I agree...I'd certainly start with that over any other option. Disconnecting the battery may be the easier route, however.

I agree on a re-learn.

Also is this a Intense PCM? If not you should check out one of their newer promotions

I ended up unplugging the battery for a few minutes, got back into the car and everything was working fine ...

...up until about 5 minutes ago. I was just getting back from a 20 minute drive when it started to BANG into gear again. And now it'* starting to make a low pitched whine. I fear that I am in for the worst. I just had this transmission flushed 2k miles ago.

Cfoote is finding this in his Aurora...it appears to be a soleniod or valve issue in the trans.

Unplugging the pcm and what you did isn't bad or usually a cause for a relearn. You didn't crank the engine etc.

Try unhooking the pcm and ensuring all the pins look to be seated properly.

You could be having problems with the pressure control solenoid, which can cause harsh shifts. Sometimes, if you're lucky, it just gets sticky and pouring in a can of SeaFoams TransTune will free it up. If not, it will have to be replaced. The side cover on the tranny has to be pulled to replace it.
