P 0523 code, rough idling, question
Hello All!
Thanks for reading
first off, truck is a 2007 (new body style) V8 5.3L
I have a few questions and am looking for some input.
The other day I got a check engine light in my car on my way home, while i didn't notice that the oil pressure dropped as well. I drove home for about 40 mins after the light came on.
I read the codes and it said i Had p 0523 and p 0521
I looked them up hoping to figure it out, and after researching hoping that it was just a bad sensor, especially since i drove for 40+ mins with the light on.
I ordered the new part and it came in two days, the truck sat in the garage.
earlier before getting the tools I cleared the codes, and started up just for a second to see what it would say with the codes cleared, oil pressure changed from 0 to pegged at 80.
I changed out the oil pressure switch and now my truck idles very roughly and low, (only had it started for about 3 seconds) while the pressure gauge still read 0
Question is do you think that I could have installed wrong somehow? just unscrew and screwed in the new one..
I didn't change the filter.
Also, long shot, but with the engine roughness there inst anyway i could have cleared a tune on the truck that maybe a previous owner mapped to the ecu is there? figured that way more labor intensive than using a code checker.
Any ideas on what I could do next?
any links to helpful tutorials are welcomed, as i have done a lot of searching and found a lot of information about the P 0523 code, but the now engine roughness makes me think that I might actually have an oil pump problem.
Thanks again in advance!
Hunter

The p0523 is an eop sensor circuit fault usually the sensor. The p0521 is eop performance issue. having to do with mechanical oil pressure. At this point get an oil pressure reading at the filter after making sure you have oil in the engine. To see if the pump is working. The rough running could be an afm lifter not locking and damaged due to driving with low oil pressure. afm cylinders are 1,4,6 and 7. This is what you need to know to start and what direction to go from there. hope this helpful
