New chevy impala 2014- with damage to engine cradle/
So just picked up a 2014 chevy impala lt. 77,000 miles on it. It has damage to the engine cradle, the damage is a very small whole but looks to be in a bad spot. Anyone know more about whether its really necessary to fix? Also the Power/steering rack needs to be replaced probably from hitting something on the cradle. I have the warranty still for 60 days or 3,000 miles and am going down on tuesday to see what theyll do/ raise hell but if anybody has any input id really appreciate some insight.
Im assuming that maybe it was a boulder or perhaps a parking stop? I really dont know. My guy took a look said the engine cradle should be replaced and that it needs a re manufactured power steering rack because its leaking in the middle of the body. also outer tire rods are shot. Thing is hes not actually my guy, i dont have a guy, and he was recommended to me. Seems to know what hes talking about but dont know if hes burning me on the price (2500$) or if its even necessary to get done. Really feeling discouraged here lol
Seems like you got a really good price on it. That damage doesn't look like the end of the world, but I'd definitely get it fixed or replace the sub-frame if you can find one in good shape. I think it'* steel though.
The vehicle had a road ready inspection at the dealer it was sold at, pretty sketchy place. it passed apparently with no problem.... i dont know how to determine if it is bent or not i put a level on it and its dead nuts. dont know if that even means anything. going to the dealer tomorrow to see if any of this can be fixed on there end with the connecticuts used car warranty, and i got the 60 days/ 3000 miles. im on day 22 so hopefully theyll help me out here. guessing theyll be looking to give me a hard time. Bottom line if the engine cradle is bent is it necessary to replace?
