2018 Trax Idles Rough p0016-17
Hello, I recently replaced my head gasket on my 1.4 Ecotec and I used all timing tools to insure that cams didn’t rotate or chain didn’t move during installation. After putting it back together I am getting the p0016 and p0017 codes for camshaft correlation. I am wondering if it could be the reluctor wheel, because I had removed them earlier when removing the head. The timing chain tensioner is also good. Is there a way I can make sure that the reluctor is aligned?
You can view the commanded and the actual values and see whats going on.
What are the actual codes. Lean makes me think you got a vacuum leak in the intake. What gasket set did you use?

I just used a general gasket kit from AutoZone. I am getting a fuel too lean code for a while before the head gasket blew but I think it’* a fuel filter issue. Also would the intake leak give the p0016-17 codes?
You're going to have to check commanded angle versus actual angle somehow . . . or the alternative would be to tear it all down again and hope you can find the issue. It might be time to borrow or acquire a little better scanner.
The guys have given good info. With P0016 and P0017 setting, I would suspect that the crank is off and setting correlation codes for both cams. There are tools to hold the crank in position and a tool to hold the cams on position. and then there is a tool to align the reluctor'* on the sprockets. When putting on the chain make sure the slack in the chain is on the tensioner side. Cam timing can effect fuel trim, not to say that is your fuel trim issue . I would get the cam timing issue resolved and move on from there. Like the others have suggested, looking at data on a scan tool can save a physical tear down. Don't know if this is helpful it just popped into my head.
