2011 Malibu rattling noise
I hear ya some people are just to sensitive lol. Hey either way thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I’ll keep you in mind and message you if I have any questions in the future with vehicles. Thanks again take care. And oh I’ll be back to this thread if that doesn’t work on the Malibu and if I have any more questions.
take care

Quick question. I’ve not really ever used auto forums tried a few in past but could never get authorization and or passwords would never be accepted no matter how many password configurations I tried. So another words I just gave up. Lol. but Iam glad this forum I actually had some feed back let alone got to work. My question is what are the names of the other forums you use that you mentioned you are apart of previously? I’d like to know some good ones I could use in conjunction with this forum.
Thanks
Thanks
This is the only Automotive repair forum I'm a part of Skibo. I'm on around 8 or 9 scale modeling forums. I limit myself to one auto repair forum because 1.) this one here is about the best laid out in terms of organization and 2.) I'm an experienced GM technician and like contributing to others. In regards to being on numerous forums ya kinda gotta watch out somewhat. I've found that if you really know what you're doin' then you can weed out those that don't have a clue what'* going on in any given field from those that know what they are doing and have a strategy based diagnostic and repair process. In short, forums are a great resource if one can discern the good info from the not-so-good info.
I've only got a few posts on here but have recently become more involved around here because I do like helping others and I like staying in touch with the automotive repair community since I was in the GM Dealerworld realm for 20 years. I don't have access to GM Service Information any longer but I do have Identifix which utilizes factory information in which to draw from.

Yeah I totally understand you there. I’ve never had any luck on other forums. My questions just sit there and never get replied to. Or like I mentioned before I can’t get approved by an administrator to use the forum or I can never make it past the sign up page typically because the password never would verify or something along those lines. Nice to get response here the day I asked my first post. Either way I’ll keep you in mind for future help or questions. I’m no expert gear head so I need help and questions from time to time, but I’m very handy with a lot of things. And I like to learn and work with my hands and do just About everything I can on my home, property or cars etc. Unless it’* still under warranty of course 😁. Take care, stay safe!
I will be having soon some questions on a 2006 Silverado 1500HD 6.0 I got my hands on for super cheap. But I’m not there to dig and get her running just yet. To many things going on at the moment.
Thanks for the very kind comments Skibo. Looking forward to seeing what you're gonna do with the Silverado. I'd love to have one with an 8.1 liter engine in it just for the engine.
Did you remove the belt and see if the noise is still there? If so those engines have chain issues. It uses a chain to run the balance shafts and water pump. That chain likes to stretch and I have seen them break. That chain usually has a higher pitch rattle and gets worse w/ the a/c on. The primary chain goes around both cams and will brake the long fixed guide and sometimes brakes the top guide bolt in the head,or it will take out the top guide. Have seen them go as far as the chain wearing thru the cam cover. If the noise doesn't change with the belt off, you might want to pull the cam cover for inspection. If the primary chain lets loose this engine can bend valves. if the water pump chain breaks it will over heat due to the water pump not turning. Just a thought, hope you find this helpful.
