Unhappy 2010 Cobalt - Two Problems at Once - Help Please

I own a like-new 2010 Cobalt LT coupe 2.2L (mileage 18,000)

I got a "failed EVAC vent solenoid" troubleshoot message simultaneous with failure of my "remote start" function.

Could these be related problems?

Yes, when a PCM code is set, this inhibits remote start......fix the EVAP code problem, clear it, and then the remote system should work again....

the code is set by the gas cap being loose or off about 90% of the time. i would check that.

the vent valve is normally seized, ive had luck taking them out, spraying them with wd40 and actuating them a few times with a car battery. they are 12v and it wont hurt anything if you get the polarity reversed. if you try it both ways and nothing happens you will have to get a new one. they are pretty cheap. i would put some wd40 in the new one too. it lasts longer than the stuff they have in it to begin with
