Default 2006 monte ss turbo'd

Hey there ! I have an ss with a turbo and meth. inj. i bought the car about two years ago and now the motor is showing some base compression so i figured it was time to haul it out. I'm an old school gm guy and worked on rwd'* for twenty years but this is my first attempt at a fwd. I've got pretty much everything disconnected and i assume the best way is to drop the k frame out from the bottom ? the only thing stumping me so far is how to disconnect the steering shaft from the rack ! should be simple or am i simple ? will post some pics tommorow. any help and or hints would be appreciated !

You can either remove the two bolts holding the rack to the sub frame, to do this you need to remove the power steering pump from the engine. Or you can lower the sub frame and the rack will slip off the steering column.

Go slow. It will slide right out. But it'* on a angle and it could bind up. Undoing the two bolts is the best option, that way you can move the rack a bit.

Another option is to upload it to a place like photobucket. I kind of like using facebook. You can then take the location of that image and then click the little yellow box on the editor bar, the one that looks like mountains and a sun. Copy the link there and the image will display in the post.
