I checked my service manuals and they only to to 2005, and I have the 3.4 and 3.8 listed. Both have a different style of adapter. So I'm not sure what style the 3.5 has, sorry.
Ahh, I found a 3.5l engine in a 2005 Malibu. On that engine it looks like 3 bolts. One at 12, one at 4 and one at 8

Sorry, I have no service manuals for 2006 and up. The adapter I show on the 05 is a triangle. Getting it back on and torqued correctly is going to be more work then getting it off.

Sorry for being late on the post. I had the same leak on my 2006 impala v6 3500 engine. There are three bolts to remove on the adapter plate. One is easy, the second i removed the starter to makd it easy to remove the second bolt and make more room and the third I had to unbolt the ac pump.
First remove tension on the belt. There are four bolts to loosen on the ac pump. Two near the oil filter adapter and two on the front of engine where the belt is. Then you can move the ac pump to access the last bolt. Since the housing is slotted I left the third bolt in and only loosened it.
Hope it helps.
